The refurbished Hôtel de Buci is located at the historical Parisian quarter of Saint Germain-des-Prés, part of the vibrant 6ème arrondissement in central Paris, notorious for its cafés, elegant boutiques and restaurants, the publishing houses, bookstores and stalls along the river Seine and, most of all, the Musée d’Orsay and the church of Saint Germain-des-Prés, the oldest one in the city.

Hôtel de Buci sells itself as a “cozy cocoon of elegance where you’ll feel more at home than at home”. The hotel has gone through a recent transformation. The project was led by Céline Mouton and Paul Salas (Studio CMPS) with more than fifteen years of experience in the renovation of high-end hotels. The nineteen rooms are inspired by classic Parisian apartments and the breakfast room, originally in the basement, is now placed in a sort of conservatory naturally lit by a glass roof.
In this new restaurant, evocative of Parisian winter gardens, guests with a keen eye for contemporary design will immediately detect two of our most iconic indoor rattan collections: Altet rattan chair by Studio expormim and Gres rattan high stool by Miguel Milá. Because of their combination of craftsmanship and innovation both of them have become regular at hotels, restaurants and contract projects in general.
Altet, an all-purpose luxury dining chair
The restaurant at Hôtel de Buci is dominated by warm and deep colours. But there’s also an enveloping feeling emanating from the blue velvet sofas, the dark foliage damask covering the walls and smooth upholstery of the chairs and bar stools around and along the polished wood tables. In this inviting atmosphere, Altet, our classic rattan chair rescued from the archives by Studio expormim, shines with its own light.
The versatility of Altet rattan chair has to do with its small size and discreet personality. Light, compact and resistant, this reedition of Altet rattan design chair highlights the timelessness of classic designs and the ability of our craftsmen to adapt their know-how to the times. In this sense, Altet indoor wicker chair is a reflection of what Studio CMPS intended for this particular project: offering a snapshot of modern Parisian tastes while respecting the hotel DNA in order to attract new customer profiles. And experience tells us it works.
Gres high stool, the most comfortable and classy rattan bar stool
Designed as an open kitchen, the Hôtel de Buci restaurant features a large communal table where guests can share a break and socialise although they also have the option of seeking refuge in the intimate alcoves around. There are some other high tables, less formal, more bistro-style. The seating option for all them is Gres rattan bar stool in its high version. The rounded rattan panels shaping its structure match the basket-handle arches framing the alcoves.
The high version of Gres rattan bar stool is specially fit for bars and restaurants providing comfortable seating by the counter or around an elevated table thanks to its padding and the metal ring acting as footrest. Rattan bar stools as Gres high stool are not just delicate and elegant as swans, but sturdy, ergonomic and resistant to the wear and tear of hotels, restaurants and bars. And with its beret-shaped seat it might as well be French.
