Benedetta Tagliabue – EMBT

Benedetta Tagliabue studied at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV) and later completed her studies in New York. In 1989 she moved to Barcelona, where she is still living today. In 1991, she joined Enric Miralles and together they founded the studio Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, whose projects can be found in many countries all over the world like China, Germany, England and The Netherlands to name a few. The studio has received numerous accolades, among which one of the most notable is the International Fellowship lifetime honour awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2010. Outstanding projects include the Spanish Pavilion at the Expo Shanghai 2010, Santa Caterina Market and its surroundings in Barcelona (1997-2005) and the Scottish Parliament Building (1999- 2004). Her work comprises other fields such as set and interior design.

Remarkable projects include the sets for Merce Cunningham’s Dance Company (2009), the theatre play From I to J by Isabel Coixet (2010) and the interior design of Camper shoe stores in Seville, Barcelona and Washington (2009-2010). In 2001 she was awarded the Delta de Oro Award to Industrial Design in recognition of her Lungo Mare bench, a design for the Catalan company Escofet.
