Oscar Tusquets Blanca
Architect by profession, designer by adaptation, painter by vocation and writer out of the need to make friends, Tusquets (Barcelona, 1941) is the prototype of all-round artist brought to the verge of extinction due to modern world specialization. He graduated as an architect in 1965 from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Barcelona. He worked with Lluís Clotet at Studio Per until 1984. He was one of the founding members of BD Barcelona Design, where he launched his career as a furniture and object designer. His designs can be found in some of the most outstanding museums in the world like the MoMA in New York or the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Throughout his prolific career, he has been awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseño, the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes, the insigne of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Creu de Sant Jordi. In addition, he has been awarded the Premio Ciutat de Barcelona twice as well as several FAD of Architecture and Delta of Design. In 1994 he delivered his first essay Más que discutible and has published several successful books ever since.
