Overlooking the stunning Pacific coastline in Northern California, the Sea Ranch Lodge, half resort, half retreat stands as a design icon of the 60s and a fav for nature lovers. An architectural jewel embedded in an untamed landscape of windswept meadows sprinkled with wildflowers, cedar trees and a rugged rocky seashore.

Looking for the warmth of noble materials
The sophisticated revamp of the Sea Ranch Lodge assembled a well-stocked team of collaborators including the Seattle-based architecture firm Mithun, interior design studio NicoleHollis and landscape architects Terremoto. There is a sense of discreet luxury emanating from the warmth of the white oak plank floors, the cedar walls and the smooth rattan of the our iconic Armadillo armchair.
Less is more
The whole design concept of the renovation project lays on preserving and simplifying the romance of the spot. Indoor spaces had to be simple and approachable, the materials had to be humble. The mix of classic 20th century furniture and contemporary pieces, such as Armadillo rattan armchair by MUT Design, reinforce this idea of less is more. Because the most important here is the landscape flooding the interiors with overpowering force.
Colour code: Pacific blue
Nothing here is dressed to impress. Dress code is be humble, blend in, keep a low profile. Following the instruction, Armadillo rattan armchair, one of the most recent additions to our indoor catalogue, with its natural peeled rattan frame and unpretentious elegance, fits in wonderfully. Its blue cushions reflect the colour of the vast Pacific ocean, only a few metres away, its salty waves almost knocking on the picture windows. The Sea Ranch Lodge, where the land meets the sea and the borders between the indoor and the outdoor become blurred. Everything we love at Expormim.
