Last April Skyscanner, one of the biggest search agregators and online travel agency worldwide, opened the doors to its brand-new office and tech hub in the heart of London’s Soho district. The distinct areas composing this 30.000 sq ft space have been carefully designed to foster not only productivity, but also the well-being of the team

Focus Lounge: serenity, silence and ergonomic furniture
Productivity and innovation require a lot of concentration. The Focus Lounge offers a distraction-free enviroment fit to develop complex tasks, brainstorming and strategic planning. To this end, it is equipped with soundproofing technologies, soft ambient lighting and ergonomic indoor furniture, such as Huma armchair. With its upholstered shell-shaped backrest and swivel base, this particular version of the versatile Huma indoor armchair, specially devised for the office and modern business environments, provides all the comfort employees need to stay focused.
Wellness Room: working in harmony
A escape from the office within the office. With its lush vertical garden, natural textures and calming elements, the Wellness Room creates an atmosphere of peacefulness where employees can restore energy and reconnect. Two of our most serene indoor collections, Cask and Huma, seem more than convenient to this sanctuary consecrated to quiet working, mindfulness and even yoga classes. The natural rattan framing Cask sofa and armchair as well as Huma armchair adds to the biophilic spirit of this area.
Back to the office: the evolution of postpandemic working environments
The pandemic made us think remote working was here to stay. Far from reality, there is a centripetal force attracting workers back to the office. Maybe because working environments are not what they used to be, as Skyscanner London office splendidly shows. Office furniture has also evolved to adapt to these new spaces where employee well-being is prioritised as a way to enhance a positive work culture and support mental and physical health. Collections such as Huma by Mario Ruiz and Cask by Norm Architects, thanks to their ergonomics, comfort, elegance and durability are the perfect match because they share this philosophy: they’re the children of a new era.
